Val Robert was born in Cohoes, New York in 1950. He is a lifelong resident of the capital district of New
York state. Robert has been creating acrylic paintings for over 40 years. He is self-taught, except for an abstract art course he took under artist Peter Taylor, while attending Hudson Valley
Community College. He describes his work as ‘exaggerated realism’, and he achieves this with a graphic, cubic and hard edge approach. His art often combines traditional realism with a contemporary
flair. He often takes photos while traveling and uses these images for references and inspiration. Some of his work is inspired by everyday sights and objects. He was featured in the international
publication “the Artist Magazine” with the article about him titled “Find Your Niche”. Robert has also had 2 of his images put on greeting cards by major card companies. He has had several one person
shows, including the art gallery at Hudson Valley Community College. Robert’s art can be found in corporate and private collections across the United States. He is an active member of the Albany
Center Gallery. He has had his work accepted in over 60 juried shows in 10 states from Connecticut to California and has won over 50 awards.
